All of us are consumers of goods and services. A Consumer under the act is, " One who buys any goods, hires any service/services for a consideration which has been paid or promised or partly paid and partly paid and partly promised under any system of deferred payment." Any consumer of the State can file a complaint before the concerned District Consumer Disputes Redressal forum.

Department of Food,Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs,Punjab, is authorized to issue Ration Card including Addition,Deletion,Surrender,Transfer of Members. Any person who is adult can apply for a Ration Card.

The licence for the construction of a cinema in the State of Punjab is granted under "The Punjab Cinemas (Regulation) Act, 1952. The District Magistrate is the Licencing Authority under the Act.

Bricks are essential commodity and are manufactured in Kilns. No one can manufacture the Bricks without having the Licence from the department. The Licence is issued as per Clause 4. A person desirous to start a Brick Kiln, shall apply for Grant of a Licence to District Magistrate of the concerned district in appended Form ‘A’ along with Site Plan registered Lease Deed or Ownership of the Land and Treasury Challan ofTen Thousand Rupees as security to be deposited in the name of Director under Head of Account No. 8443-Civil Deposits (106) Personal Deposits (01) Personal Deposits.

Condition for obtaining Dealership for sale and Distribution of Essential Commodities, under the Provisions of Punjab Public distribution System (Licensing and Control) Order, 2003

Light Diesel & Kerosene Oil are the essential commodities & are being distributed through the Dealers (Wholesaler/ Retailer) to the consumers on Ration cards. The Dealer/Retailer/Person shall carry on business in accordance with the terms and conditions with a valid License granted by the concerned District Magistrate/ District Food and Supplies Controller.

Coal is an essential commodity and is being distributed through Dealers(Wholesalers/Retailers) who import sponsored Coal from Assam/ Bengal/ Bihar on the recommendation of State of Punjab to the Consumers/ Brick Kiln Owners. For this purpose, the Dealer/Brick Kiln Owner/person shall carry on business in accordance with the terms and conditions of the above mentioned Control Order, with a valid Licence granted by the District Magistrate/ District Food and Supplies Controller concerned. Every person desiring to obtain a Licence shall make an application to the District Magistrate in Form A under Clause 4 of this licence.
