Under this Category, Benefits, Concessions and Financial Assistance given as Social Security, are discussed such as Financial Assistance for Handicapped, Financial Assistance to Widows and Destitute Women, Homes for Destitute Women and Widows, Homes to Mentally Retarded Children , Grant in Aid to NGO's, National Benefit Family Scheme, National Old Age Pension Scheme .

  Following are the services available

Financial Assistance e.g. Scholarship
 
Financial Assistance e.g.Scholarship, is provided to all categories of disabled persons. Separate State Awards are presented to individuals who have rendered best work in a year, in the cause of the disabled. For these Awards , selection is done by Punjab Government.

Balika Samridhi Yojna
 
Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases related to Balika Samridhi Yojna Scheme. A post birth grant amounting to Rs.500 /-one time with an amount of Annual Scholarship, is provided.

Kanya Jagriti Yojna
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases related to Kanya Jagriti Yojna. Under this scheme ,scholarship is provided to the girl child for raising their educational status and to reduce school drop-outs among girls.

State Protective Home
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases related to State Protective Homes. Under this scheme , Residential Facilities are provided to Girls/Women sent by Hon'able Court under Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956 for giving Accommodation, Maintenance, Education, Medical and Rehabilitation to the eligible Women and Girls.

Juvenile Justice
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases related to Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children Act, 2000). Main scope of this service is to provide Care and Protection to the Destitute and Neglected Delinquent children according to the Provision of the Act.

Grant in Aid to NGO's (Center Scheme)
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases related to Grant in Aid to NGO's (Center Scheme).Grant-in-aid to NGOs working for the welfare of Children, Aged, Women, Disabled and Drug-addicts.Grant is given directly to NGOs by Govt. of India under intimation to this department.

National Family Benefit Scheme
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases related to National Family Benefit Scheme. Financial Assistance of Rs.10,000/- is provided to the family whose bread winner has expired but Annual inform is below Rs.11,000/- and the age of the deceased should be between 18-64 years.

Mahila Ashram School and Gandhi Vanita Ashram School
 
These Ashrams/Schools, provide education up to Matric and +2 level to the Children of Widows and Destitute Women and inmates of Departmental Institution as well as the locality.

Government Workshop for Physically Handicapped
 
The aim of the Institution is to impart Training to Physically Handicapped persons in various trades like Weaving, Hosiery, Canning and Candle Making.

Government Institute for Blind Students
 
Government Institute for Blind students, Jamalpur, forms up as an Institute which also provides Residential Facilities to Blind Students.

Vocational Rehabilitation Centre (Physically Handicapped)
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases about Vocational Rehabilitation to Physically Handicapped. Under Vocational Rehabilitation Centre Scheme, both males and females in the age group of 18-40 (Physically Handicapped) are admitted.

50% Travelling Concession to Old Women
 
All those Women of 60 years of age or above, residing in Punjab/Chandigarh, have been given benefit of Travel on half fare in the Punjab Roadways and P.R.T.C. buses.

Udisha Training Programme
 
Udisha Training Programme is to impart training to Supervisors, Anganwari Workers and Helpers.

Swayam Sidha
 
Swayam Sidha Programme is formed to uplift the social status of women and to give them training to start economic activities to raise the family income.

Kishori Scheme
 
Kishori Scheme is basically formed to impart Training to Adolescent girls in the age group of 11-18 years to improve their Educational, Nutritional and Health status of the girl.

Integrated Child Development Scheme
 
ICDS i.e. Integrated Child Development Scheme is to provide services to the children in the age group of 0-6 years and Pregnant and Nursing Mothers.

National Old Age Pension Scheme
 
National Old Age Pension Scheme (NOAP) is concerned with a grant of Rs. 75 per month per beneficiary.

Prime Minister Gramodaya Yojana
 
P.M.G.Y i.e. Prime Minister Gramodaya Yojana is to provide Nutrition to the malnourished children in the age group of 0-3 years of Rural Areas.

Facilities for Senior Citizens
 
Senior persons of the State are defined as, women of the age of 60 years or above and the men of the age of 65 years or above. Facilities like issuing identity cards, arranging separate queues for senior citizens at public place, arranging reservation for the seats for senior citizens in Punjab Roadways and PRTC buses.

Residential facilities to Aged and Infirms
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases related to Residential facilities to aged and infirms.These facilities are provided to all males above the age of 65 years and females above the age of 60 years.

Homes for Widows and Destitute women
 
Social Security , Women and Child Development, Punjab, deals with all cases about homes for widows and destitute women. Under this service, residential facilities to Widows and Destitute Women with their children, i.e. son below the age of 19 years and daughter below the age of 21 years , is provided.

Homes for Mentally Retarded Children
 
Under Social Welfare Schemes, a scheme named Homes to Mentally Retarded Children is there under which, each child is admitted to the Home, shall be provided with free boarding and lodging, medical aid, education and vocational training and facilities of scope etc. in addition to specialized medical measurement where it is necessary.
