Under SC/BC Welfare Schemes, number of services such as Removal of Untouchability, Scholarships to Students, Creches for the Children of Working Mothers from Sweepers and Scavengers, are provided.

  Following are the services available

Scheme for Providing Plots and Grant for the Construction of Houses for SC BPL Famililes
 
There are two components of this scheme i.e. Provision of Plots and Grant for the Construction of houses for houseless Scheduled Castes in Rural Areas The families belonging to Scheduled Castes below poverty line in rural areas, who have no plots of their own to construct the house, will be provided plots, free of cost, where Govt./Panchayati suitable land is not available. There land shall be purchased for this purpose @25,000/- per unit.Grant for the Construction of House Rs.20,000 per housing unit, will be provided to each scheduled caste identified beneficiary for the construction of a pucca house .

Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955, Removal of Untouchability
 
Under this Scheme, Encouragement Award to Inter Caste Married Couples @ Rs. 25,000 each is given. Encouragement Awards to Panchayats @ Rs.15, 000 each, is given. Seminar/Debates-cum-Awareness Programmes at Block level, Mass Lunch at Block level, are organized.

Creches For The Children Of Working Mothers From Sweepers And Scavengers
 
Under the scheme, parents are being relieved of the burden regarding safety of their Children while they are at work and to provide security to them. Children up to the age of 6 years are looked after and nutrition at the rate of Rs.2 per child per day is being provided.

Attendance Scholarship to SC Girl Students
 
Under this scheme, Attendance Scholarship to SC girl students studying in primary classes is provided .The scope of the scheme is to check drop-out tendency amongst Scheduled Caste Girl students, who are Domicile of Punjab state and studying in Primary Classes.

Scheme of Post-Matric Scholarships
 
Under this scheme Financial Assistance is provided to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students, studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.

Welfare Of Other Than Backward Classes/ Denotified Tribes
 
The scope of the scheme is to provide Financial Assistance to the Denotified Tribes (Vimukat Jatis) students for studying at School/College level.This scheme was introduced during the year 1914 and the idea was to encourage Vimukat Jatis people to attend schools.

Pre-Matric Scholarship to the Children
 
The scope of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the children of traditional scavengers of Dry latrines, Tanners, Flayers and Sweepers, to pursue Pre-Matric education.

Scheme for promotion of education amongst educationally backward class
 
Under this scheme ,scholarship is given to the students belonging to scheduled castes and backward classes studying from 6th class onwards. Admission fees and tuition fees paid by the students is also reimbursed to them.

Training to Un-employed SC Candidates for Driving Light/Heavy Vehicles
 
To provide employment/self-employment to the members of Scheduled Castes. A stipend of Rs.750/- p.m., per trainee, will be given and Rs.1000/- p.m. per trainee, will also be given to Training Schools as training expenses for two months and duration of training is one year.

Strengthening of 108 Community Centres for Providing Equipment and Raw Materials
 
Women/Girls belonging to Scheduled Castes, living below poverty line and girls/women of other sections of society are given training in Cutting ,Tailoring and Embroidery to enable them to be self-employed after getting the training and helping them to be self-dependent, economically.Duration of training is one year.

Providing Equipment and Raw Material to the trainees of Training-cum-Production Centres
 
To make women and girls of scheduled castes living below poverty line and also women and girls of other sections of society trained in the technical trades i.e. Readymade Garments, Handloom, Canning, Plastic Goods, Carpet Making, Leather Goods to enable them to supplement the income of their families, to make them self employed and awakening them for a respectable living.
